Anyone who has read my column in Our Town on Wednesdays knows I love Amarillo. I'm a big Amarillo booster and I personify the slogan, "I wasn't born in Amarillo but I got here as soon as I could."

I know, makes you want to gag sometimes bjut it's true. Within two weeks of moving here from cold, miserable Minneapolis, Amarillo felt like home.

I know it's not perfect and that's where I'll gripe -- just once, for now. It doesn't matter what time of day, which day, what mode of trnasportation I'm using, whjen I'm driving north on Western I always get stuck at the traffic light at 21st Avenue and Western. You know, IHOP on one side, Olive Garden and now Western Crossings on the other. I get tense when I approach that intersection. I always get stuck. And it seems as if it's a long red light. No cars going through the light east or west, but I've got to sit, and sit until finally getting a green light. That really irks me (this is still a family blog).

So, tell me, what don't you like about Amarillo? Or, what DO you like about Amarilllo? You can tell me what you're thinking through the blog, through ourtown@amarillo.com or directly to me at bruce.beck@amarillo.com.
