Everyone makes mistakes. Heck, when I make a mistake, about 40,000 subscribers plus who knows how many others on the Web see it. I understand mistakes, but what I don't understand is lack of pride in one's work.

This morning, as I was getting ready for work, I put on a pair on navy dress slacks that had just come back from the dry cleaners. There was a white spot on one pant leg. Annoying, but no real big deal. But when I put my leg through the other pant leg, there was another white spot. I was able to clean up both of them with just a little water, but that's not the point. I paid for my pants to be cleaned, not sorta cleaned.

People can defend the dry-cleaner workers by saying they probably don't earn much more than minimum wage. Doesn't matter: They took the job; they should take pride in their job and do it to the best of their ability.

I used to send my shirts out to be laundered and pressed, but when they'd come back with creases where there shouldn't be creases, I stopped sending them out. I can press the shirts better and save some money.
But it sure was nice not to have to iron my shirts for work.

I'm not convinced dry cleaning really works. I only take my clothes to the cleaners to have them pressed. I really don't expect them to get stains out.

Bruce......I hate to iron and didn't like the way the cleaners ironed wrinkles into shirts and pants that could not be ironed out. A friend recommended a place called Texas Ironing. It is in the complex of buildings at Hillside and Western (behind Sonic). You turn in where the Emergency Vet Clinic is and it is about halfway down on the left. They do an excellent job. Everything is ironed by hand.....not a large machine. You wash your own clothes and take them in on hangers. I think I paid $1.25 per piece and was really happy with the way the clothes looked. Try them.
